We are proud of our strong pathway of progression: from 4 year old recreational beginners to our top squad competing with twists and double somersaults.

We consistently evaluate our participants at all levels and will let you know as soon as your child is ready to progress to a different class.

Our classes run during term times only.

You can also book our holiday camps and club competitions.

Starting at age 8 and above, the next stage is our Junior Recreational classes, which are also suitable for beginners who are starting at a later age and those with some experience in gymnastics.

The last stage is entry into our TeamGym programme, which is by invitation only & is aimed at young gymnasts who demonstrate potential within our recreational and junior recreational classes.

Recreational

Our recreational classes are the backbone of our club. Every recreational child is as important as our gymnasts in the top squad. Recreational is the starting point for most of our gymnasts. We take on children from the age of 4. This is where your child will learn all the basics of gymnastics, develop strength and coordination. Our recreational classes are suitable for complete beginners and those who can already do some basic skills. We tailor our stations and circuits to be useful for all abilities. Classes are action packed, fun, fast moving and varied. We work hard to meet individual needs of the children, work towards their goals and retain them within the sport.

*This Monday class is exclusive for Oystermouth Primary pupils only.

Junior Gymnastics

Junior Gymnastics

Our Junior Recreational class acts as a bridge between our Recreational sessions and then into our squad. They are suitable for beginners and those with some experience in gymnastics. The classes are from eight years old.

With it being a longer session than our standard recreational classes, your child is able to focus on excellent basics and develop more complex skills. But as always the focus is on enjoying sport, gaining confidence and plenty of friendship. The children in these classes range from still learning to cartwheel to gymnasts that can somersault.

This class is aimed for those who are looking to learn some bigger skills. Each term we will spend one half learning flics (back handsprings) and the other half learning front somersaults. This class is an excellent 'add on' to an existing class. The children develop faster at flics and somersaults due to the progressions and body conditioning specific to what they need.

TeamGym -

Invite only

*These sessions are invite only, so gymnasts can develop at a pace that suits them*

TeamGym is a fairly new discipline to Wales. It is all about teamwork and training and competing with friends.

It provides fantastic opportunities for friendly and advanced competitions- which are amazing for developing a child's confidence, pressure management and sportsmanship skills. Your child will also have opportunities to compete over the bridge against some of the top TeamGym clubs in the country. Unlike artistic gymnastics, participants work on 3 different apparatus, Tumble, Trampette and Floor. TeamGym allows a lot more room for progression due to having fewer apparatus. Regardless of training 1 day a week or 4, progression is guaranteed.

We have several branches to our TeamGym squad. Our development section is where our youngest in the squad develop the foundations to become a strong, powerful gymnast. The sessions are very heavy on preparations, drills and conditioning. Gymnasts will learn up to flics (back handsprings), front handsprings and basic somersaults. After the development stage and the basics have been mastered, gymnasts will begin learning combinations of tumbles, more complex somersaults and twisting techniques. Each group will be working on skills suited to their ability, through repetition, drills and progressions.
